Harvest time

We have spent the past two weekends celebrating harvest time on each end of the state. Last weekend we joined some new friends (a family from Sammy's school) on a roadtrip to Wenatchee to go apple picking (yes - 3 hours away from our house!).
Ben hanging out in the gardens of Cider Works.

The boys also had fun riding the horse swing...

We put Ben right to work!

Cody and Sammy ready to pick some apples.

"It's apple pickin' time!!!!!!!!!!!!" (those of you who have watched Larryboy and the Bad Apple a zillion times will know where this line came from). ;)

The owner even came down to the orchard with us and taught us how to properly pick apples.

Over 50 pounds of apples! Good work boys!

We finished off the afternoon with Apple Cider slushies and Apple cider Doughnuts - and wagon rides provided by the dads!

This summer the boys grew pumpkins with Grandpa in his garden. Here we are displaying our pumpkins now named "Papi Pumpkin", "Mommy Pumpkin", "Sammy Pumpkin", and "Benny Pumpkin".
After choosing our pumpkins from Grandpa's pumpkin patch we went to the Skagit Valley Festival of Family Farms.
The boys got to go bowling with pumpkins.....
...And compare their pumpkins with Sakuma Farms - Ours are better!

Our Little Pumpkin

I'm just overjoyed they stayed still enough to get a picture!
The other farm we toured was Golden Glen Creamery and Vic Jenson and Sons dairy.
The boys had a great time completing their "scavenger hunt" form - answering questions about the farm. We put Sammy to work milking the cows.
The boys also got to pet chickens, goats and cows. Here is our animal lover feeding a goat (this goat also tried to eat Ben's jacket hood).
The boys finding "treasures" in the hay.
Ben displaying his treasure - a cow eraser!
Of course Ben can never resist riding on a tractor!
The boys showing off their completed scavenger hunt forms!

Wha??? You came to Wenatchee and didn't call us? :(
So, do tell, where exactly can you pick apples around here? I've never been and lived here 18 years! Can you believe it? :)
My son can never resist a tractor either... ;)
